Olympic Trials 2008

We had a packed house at Hayward field today and the crowd was electrifying. I have been waiting for this meet all season. We had a great women’s discus competition today. We had several ladies in position with Olympic A Standards and we had to narrow it down to three today. And I am happy to say that I am one of the three. I finished in 1st place with a throw of 65.20meters. Also joining me on this Beijing Olympic team, my good friend and longtime competitor, Suzy Powell-Roos and Stephanie Brown-Trafton. I know we will represent the USA well in Beijing.

Congrats Aretha! I’ve looked at some of the marks around the globe and your in the running. Not too many 65 or more out there. You go girl.

It was so great seeing you “bring it”!! I had a perfect view of your 65+ meter throw. I had all the people in our tent clapping and cheering for you - I think I embarrassed Irene!!! = )
You really brought your “A” game and showed so much heart, conviction, belief and strength to this event. I was SO proud and happy for you - you really went after your DREAM!!! More power to you!! GO AHT! GO!!!!!!

Aretha! WOW. Congratulations. I was thinking about you as I was watching the trials on TV a few weeks ago. Then…as you can tell, time got away from me and I just now remembered to check on my only buddy who I know in the track star world. I love it. Bring it to ‘um Aretha.
