Family and Friends

This is my last week in the US before I head over the China.  And a pretty intense training as week as well.  But my family and friends have helped make it and exciting week.  Reedus was able to visit this week and some friends(The Rudds) from Knoxville, TN were able to come down and hang out.

  

Theo’s 1st haircut

Theo is 13months now and I have really enjoyed watching him grow.  One of the funniest things to watch grow has been his hair.  He’s been growing a natural flattop since birth.  It keeps getting thicker on the top and not to much happening on the sides and in the back.  So it was time to even it out.  He really enjoyed his 1st haircut and sat up in the barber chair like he knew what was going to happen.  Here is a before and during photo.

   

An Exciting Send Off

We had another fun send off on Friday here in Opelika, AL.  Kristin’s neighbors all got together and planned a great farewell.  They made some great salads and a beautiful cake with the Olympics rings on it.  We brought our implements for some up close and with a shot put and discus.  It’s great to know we have such great support here in Opelika as well as around the country.  The neighbors have been supportive all season wishing good luck on various trips and following our progress.  Here are some pictures of our exciting send off.

         

Up Next China

My next scheduled competition is the Olympic Games in Beijing, China.  There may be a possibility of a another meet in training camp.  If that happens I’ll let you know.  The competition dates for the women’s discus are qualifying on August 15th and the finals on August 18th.  Please cheer extra loud on those days.  There will be a lot of news and interesting things happening and I will blog as much as I can so check my site regularly for updates.

A Great Media Day

A special thank you to Toomer’s coffee for hosting an Olympic send off for Kristin Heaston and myself yesterday.  It was fun spending time with the family, friends and the community.  I had a great time and the support of others is awsome.  So keep the great vibes coming especially on our competition days.  I throw on Aug. 15th and 18th and Kristin throws on Aug. 16th.

Also one of my sponsors, Advocare, came out to practice yesterday to get some new footage and freshen up my advocare video.  I am excited to see the new one when they have it finished.  I know they have a few more athletes to shoot, Advocare had a number of endorsers make the 2008 Olympic Team.
