Drake Relays Results

I flew in to Des Moines, IA on friday and it was beautiful about 84 degrees with some nice winds for throwing. A few athletes got sunburns on friday. Then the storms moved in and the weather changed. By saturday we had a high of 50 degrees and rain. The rain was so steady that we couldn’t even sweep in the ring dry. We looked like little kids jumping up and down in puddles making a splash. We did the best we could do in the conditions. The early rounds started out pretty rough and then it got a little better. None of us threw like we wanted. I finished in 4th and Suzy Powell won the event. Up next a series of meets in Brazil…
Bellie Fit Basics Book Release Party
April 25, 2009
I am so proud of my friend Monique Hollowell for following her passions. Last weekend I attended her book release party for her first book, Bellie Fit Basics. The venue was awesome, as you can see from the pictures we were in an art gallery. The weather was absolutely perfect that night. She was supported by her husband, family and friends. I had fun reconnecting with everyone, most of whom I hadn’t seen since her wedding. A great time was had by all.If you are expecting or have a friend who is expecting a child, we all do, this book is a must have. Visit Monique’s website, www.belliefitbasics.com and take a look at the book for yourself. Monique was truly an inspiration to me during my pregnancy encouraging me to keep training and big part of my successful return to throwing after childbirth. Now help me support her by telling everyone about her book and website.
Training Update
April 10, 2009
I have had some great workouts since my return from the early Australian meets. I am really excited about my new personal records in the weight room. My training partners Kristin Heaston and Cory Martin have been a big help in getting my numbers up in the bench, clean and snatch. We have had some fun competitions that have helped all of us and right now I am beating Cory in the bench press. Not in actual weight but in the differential, I am closing the gap. All I can say is next time he’s buying the pizza.Kristin continues to challenge me in the hurdle hops and we are both reaching higher heights. My coach and I have been working hard on a few technical adjustments and I am starting to get the feeling. Now I need a few meets to groove them in. I am really excited about the upcoming Drake Relays in Des Moines, IA on April 25th. It will give me a chance to start fine tuning my technique while competing against a great field of discus throwers. Be sure to watch all three of is compete at Drake on ESPN2 April 26th, 2:00 - 3:30 pm
