Brussels Diamond League

August 28, 2010

brussels1.jpgThe women’s discus diamond league final was yesterday in Brussels Belgium.  The diamond race in our event was won by Yarelis of Cuba.  But the last meet went to the young and on fire! Sandra of Croatia who threw a national record of 66.93 meters.  It was a great meet, sold out stadium of over 40,000 fans and some live music too, it was a great atmoshphere.  We were early in the program and the stadium was filling up as we competed.  I have been training hard since the London meet and it took me a few rounds to get into my competition groove, 6 rounds to say the least.  My last throw was my best throw and it would have been enough for 4th place but as competition goes a few others threw further in the final round and I finished in 6th place.  Next time I need the start with that throw and then build from there.  I feel pretty good though with the changes I made and now I have 2 more european meets to better my seasons best and maybe pr.  The 2010 diamond league is over and I fnished 4th in the overall race, a very consistent season but next year will be better. European Road Trip DMG Style

August 9, 2010

I was going to post a few pictures on facebook but this trip today had to many exciting pieces.  My manangement team had 6 athletes competing in Luzern Swiztlerand on Sunday all of us traveled from there to the Netherlands to the base camp.   1 went my plane, 2 went by train and 3 of us went by car.  I was priviledged to an 8 hour car ride through Europe.  The best part is we had 4 adults all with large suitcases and carry on bags in a tiny European Car.  See the pictures,dmg-roadtrip1.jpg dmg-roadtrip2.jpgdmg-roadtrip3.jpg dmg-roadtrip4.jpgNow dont think I had it good riding shot gun.  My knees were in the dashboard and in Europe there is a fire extingisher on the floor of the passenger side.  The best part is we were chauffered by DMG’s finest, Piotrek.  He did his best to try and get us here in 6 hours but the trip was over 660km.  Although Germany has a population over 80 milion, all we saw was country side the whole trip.  It was really pretty, a lot of green trees and beautiful sunshine.  At least we didn’t get lost like the time Coach Clayton was driving from Hungary to Croatia and we ended up on the wrong side of the mountain.
