Osaka Grand Prix 2008
May 10, 2008
This is one of the best organized meets I have been to. Everything was on time and well run. Despite their best efforts for a great meet, the weather did not cooperate. It was cold and rainy about 56 degrees. The meet results were low in every event, but it was hard for us to keep warm out there.
We had a very competitive field in the women’s discus. I felt really good today and ready to throw far, but the weather did not help. It was raining so hard it was tough to keep a grip on the discus. I finished 3rd, with a throw of 58.99, click here for full results, http://www.iaaf.org/gp08/results/eventCode=3938/sex=W/discCode=DT/result.html
One of the meet sponsors was Nishi and they presented all of the discus throwers with a Nishi discus at the end of the competition. They were all very nice and I am really excited to have a new toy to play with. I am watching the meet being replayed on TV here with FULL coverage of all the events.
I leave here tomorrow for Maui, HI for 2 meets on May 14th and May 16th. I’ll keep you posted.
UCSD Triton Invite 2008
April 26, 2008
It was another beautiful day in southern California. I competed at UCSD in San Diego CA. The meet went well, I threw 62.11meters for 2nd place. I am happy to be throwing further but there is still more room for improvement. I was really close to throwing a lot futher today. I am still trying to find the rhythm and timing I need. I can’t wait to get back to practice work things out.
Mt Sac Relays
April 23, 2008
It’s been a few years since I last competed at the Mt Sac Relays. Famous for In-N-Out Burgers. By the time I was done competing the burgers were sold out. The weather was beautiful and the competition went well. I finished in 2nd place and threw 61.52 meters. The best part about the meet is I have now hit the Olympic Trials A standard as well as the Olympic A standard.

While I was in California my son and I were able to spend time with his Great-Grandmother and have some wonderful home cooked meals.
Tiger Classic
April 7, 2008
Auburn University has one of the nicest track and field facilities in the country. I had the privilege of competing there this weekend. The weather didn’t want to cooperate, with off and on rain showers. But that didn’t stop the meet or the fans from from having a good time.
The meet was extra special for me because I had some family in attendance. My brother and sister in law were able to make it, they had a long drive from Texas. My mom and son were there cheering as well.
I finished in 1st place, I didn’t throw as far as I wanted but we didn’t have the best conditions. Because of the rain slowing things down, we started really late and had to deal with rain and darkness.
