2010 USA Indoor Championships
February 28, 2010
This was my 1st trip to a USA indoor championships and it was awesome. The meet is being held in Albuquerque, NM this weekend, and will be on ESPN 2 today 2/28 7 to 9pm EST. Being a discus thrower which is an outdoor event sometimes thrown indoors for fun, it’s not part of our indoor championship program. So I hadn’t made it to an indoor champs until yesterday. As one of the athletes on our USATF Board of Directors I was in town for a board meeting. The meeting was productive and after I was able to watch some track and field which is really exciting. I missed my training partner Cory Martin throwing the weight but I got to see him after and congratulate him on his personal record….Yeah Cory!!!!! It was exciting to see our medical group from St Vincent’s, great group!! I was able to get a couple of videos of the lady weight throwers, check them out.For results and more info on the meet visit, http://www.usatf.org/events/2010/USAIndoorTFChampionships/
He’s 2 already?
June 10, 2009
Can you believe it? Theo turned 2 last thursday June 4th. Where does the time go? He is already into sports and plays them all. His favorites right now are golf, basketball, baseball, football, track and field and soccer. He’s doing really well in school and knows all of his classmates names. Sometimes when he gets home from school he grabs a cellphone and pretends to call some of his friends, it’s really cute.Theo is excited about his trip to Eugene, OR in a few weeks. USA Championships are one of his favorite meets he’s been going since he was 2 weeks old. Some of his favorite events include, discus, pole vault, hurdles and long races, he loves to get them started with ready set go!I hope you enjoyed the Theo update. Here are a few pictures from his birthday. I’ll work on getting a new video up soon.

Goodbye Molly you’ll be missed
June 7, 2009
The Min Pin known as “Molly Mu” passed away on friday June 5th. She was a great dog and part of the family for 11 years. She loved everyone and had friends all over the states. A lovable lap dog and very much the protector of her people. She was a small dog but had the heart and appetite of a big dog. She lived a long and full life and like a cat she had 9 lives. She survived car accidents, chicken bones, chocolate and everything else a dog is not supposed to have.Molly had a lot of personality and would do a lot of weird things, at times I think, she thought she was human. One thing she would always do is burrow herself under blankets like a kid tucking themselves in at night. My friends, the Rudd’s in Knoxville, TN even made Molly her own blanket with her name on it. And it was her favorite blanket and went with her everywhere. One of my funniest memories is about her big appetite. I had baked several sweet potatoe pies for thanksgiving and I had them all cooling on the stove and counters. I had to leave the house for an hour and when I returned home. She had gotten one off the stove and had eaten almost the whole thing I found her laying down with her head in the pie. She was so full that she couldn’t get up and when I tried to move the pan from under her head she tried to get in a few last bites. She went from an 11 pound dog to a 16 pounder in an hour. It took a month to get the weight off.If you have a funny story that you want to share leave it in the comment section.
Bellie Fit Basics Book Release Party
April 25, 2009
I am so proud of my friend Monique Hollowell for following her passions. Last weekend I attended her book release party for her first book, Bellie Fit Basics. The venue was awesome, as you can see from the pictures we were in an art gallery. The weather was absolutely perfect that night. She was supported by her husband, family and friends. I had fun reconnecting with everyone, most of whom I hadn’t seen since her wedding. A great time was had by all.If you are expecting or have a friend who is expecting a child, we all do, this book is a must have. Visit Monique’s website, www.belliefitbasics.com and take a look at the book for yourself. Monique was truly an inspiration to me during my pregnancy encouraging me to keep training and big part of my successful return to throwing after childbirth. Now help me support her by telling everyone about her book and website.
Family and Friends
July 27, 2008
This is my last week in the US before I head over the China. And a pretty intense training as week as well. But my family and friends have helped make it and exciting week. Reedus was able to visit this week and some friends(The Rudds) from Knoxville, TN were able to come down and hang out.
Theo’s 1st haircut
July 27, 2008
Theo is 13months now and I have really enjoyed watching him grow. One of the funniest things to watch grow has been his hair. He’s been growing a natural flattop since birth. It keeps getting thicker on the top and not to much happening on the sides and in the back. So it was time to even it out. He really enjoyed his 1st haircut and sat up in the barber chair like he knew what was going to happen. Here is a before and during photo.
Getting ready for a trip
May 8, 2008
I have been back to the grind this week, trainng hard and preparing to leave town for 10 days. I am getting ready to leave for Osaka, Japan and then Hawaii, I am very excited and sad at the sametime. I am not going to be able to take my son with me on this trip. I need to start packing this weekend.

Life in Auburn, AL
April 2, 2008
My son and my mom are here with me in AL while I am training for the Olympics and it has been awesome having them here. I am able to watch Theo grow and my mom helps take care of him while I am training. Theo is crawling all over the place and trying to walk. He has a toy walker that he flies all over the house pushing. It won’t be long before he starts walking. He has more teeth coming in each month.
